This week in NMSU athletics, plus football's signing day
Las Cruces, NM — The NM State football team will be hosting a signing day party for the whole community on Wednesday, February 5th beginning at 5:00 p.m., at Danny Villanueva Victory Club on the third floor of the Stan Fulton Athletic Center. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the program beginning at approximately at 5:45 p.m. This special celebration of Aggie football will allow fans to meet head coach Doug Martin and his staff. In addition, the new players that have signed up to be Aggies will be presented to the community. This is a free event and everyone is invited to attend this special celebration and presentation of Aggie football.
The 2013 edition of the New Mexico State baseball team will be on display for the first time on Saturday (Feb. 8) as the team takes on former Aggie players during the Annual Alumni Game. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. (MT) at Presley Askew Field and admission for all fans is free.
Track & Field
The New Mexico State track and field team travels to Albuquerque, N.M., to compete in the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Feb. 7. The Aggies are coming off their most successful meet of the 2014 indoor season at the Masked Rider (Feb. 1), and look to continue their progression and carry their momentum into their next competition.
The NM State men's tennis team gets back to Las Cruces to open conference matches with Western Athletic Conference foe Kansas City on Feb. 14 before meeting Northern Arizona on Saturday, Feb. 15 and ending the weekend against Idaho on Sunday, Feb. 16.
NM State gets back to the Pan American Center for a pair of home games after three road games to start the second half of WAC play. First, the Aggies welcome Idaho live on AggieVision at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6. NM State then hosts Seattle U to close out the two-game series on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m.
The Aggie softball team opens the 2014 season with the Hotel Encanto Invitational by welcoming two teams from the 2013 Women's College World Series. The Aggies start the season against No. 12 Florida State at 4 p.m. on Feb. 7 before facing Saint Mary's at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 8, NM State meeting No. 9 Nebraska and closes out the weekend against Saint Mary's at 11 a.m. and UTEP at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9.
The New Mexico State men’s basketball team will continue to look for conference success this coming weekend on road. The Aggies will face Idaho on February 6 at 8 p.m. (MT), followed by a trip to Seattle, Wash., to face Seattle U on February 8 at 8 p.m. Both games will be on KGRT 103.9 FM with hall of famer and ‘Voice of the Aggies’ Jack Nixon, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
