The New Mexico State women’s golf team pulled to within four strokes of Idaho, who leads all Western Athletic Conference teams, after two rounds of play at the 2014 WAC Championship, which is being held at the 6,163-yard, par-72 Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.

The Aggies had the best team score on day two WAC Championship with a 316. Idaho, who leads all eight WAC teams that are participating in the tournament, shot a 319 on day two and holds a four-stroke lead with a two day total of 621.

Idaho's Leilanie Kim and Cassie McKinley are tied for the overall individual lead after two-round totals of 8-over par 152. McKinley shot a 5-over par 77 on Saturday, while Kim posted a second-round score of 7-over par 79. New Mexico State's Viviana Macias is currently in third with 155 after shooting an 8-over par 80 in the second round.

Sophomore Kacey Dalpes and freshman Camille Orito, like Viviana, shot rounds of 80. Dalpes is sitting in fourth place heading into the final round of play and Orito is tied for 10, with scores of 156 (76-80) and 160 (80-80) respectively. Freshman Valeria Macias shot an 81 in the second round and is tied for eighth with a two-day score of 159 (78-81).

Freshman Kristen Cline had the best day for NM State on a windy day as she tallied 10 pars to end the afternoon with a 4-over-par 76. She is in a tie for 14th with a 163 (87-76).

Kansas City (332-321--653) sits in third after making the biggest improvement from day one as the 'Roos shot 11 strokes better than the previous day. Seattle U (323-340--663) is in fourth place, Chicago State (335-339--674) ranks fifth, Texas-Pan American (334-355--689) is sixth, Utah Valley (337-354--691) is seventh, and Bakersfield (357-366--723) ranks eighth.

The three-day tournament concludes on Sunday with final-round tee times beginning at 7 a.m.
