NMSU women's basketball adds to coaching staff

NMSU women's basketball adds to coaching staff
NMSU Athletics
New Mexico State
Thursday, August 22, 2013 - 1:25pm

New Mexico State head women’s basketball coach Mark Trakh announced the addition of Courtney Good as the Coordinator of Player Development and former Aggie Kelsie Rozendaal as a graduate assistant.

Good played basketball at UC Riverside from 2005-08 where she led the Highlanders to a Big West title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2006 and again in 2007. She was named Big West Academic All-Conference as a senior and made the Dean’s List for two years. Good graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2008 and received a master’s in teaching as well as her teaching credential in 2012.

“Courtney is a great addition for us,” Trakh said. “She brings a great skill set and has a good background in academics. She will be able to assist in that area, along with her other duties. She is very talented and works very hard.”

While working as a long-term substitute teacher in Northern California, she also worked as a Program Manager for the Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative from 2008-11.

Rozendaal played for the Aggies from 2008-12 where she ended her career ranked third in the Aggie record books for field goal percentage (.536). She led the Aggies as a junior and senior in the same category and led the team in rebounding average (8.1) during her senior year.

Rozendaal worked for eight double-doubles as a senior with a career-high 17 boards in the first round of the 2103 WAC Tournament against UT Arlington. She was named to the Academic All-WAC team four years straight and led the Aggies to a quarterfinals appearance in the 2013 WAC Tournament to finish with a 15-16 overall record.

“It is so great having another ex-player on staff. Now I have three, Aarika Hughes, Erica Sanchez and Kelsie Rozendaal, and I am very comfortable with that.” Trakh said. “She has a great basketball mind, which will be a great asset to the coaching staff and to the kids on the team. She’ll be a great role model for them and is a great addition.”

The Aggies begin the 2013-14 season with an exhibition game versus Western New Mexico, Nov. 2, at the Pan American Center before opening the regular season, No. 12, at I-10 rival UTEP.
