NMSU volleyball adds JUCO transfer
Las Cruces, NM — New Mexico State volleyball head coach Mike Jordan recently announced that Andy Tauai as signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball and attend school at NM State starting in August.
Tauai a 5-10 outside hitter who is originally from Tauranga, New Zealand, joins the Aggies after playing at Hillsborough Community College. She was a first team Junior College All-American last year after hitting .372 for HCC as an outside hitter.
“Andy is a tremendous volleyball player and she has a lot to offer,” said Coach Jordan. “She’s a very good back row player and has a great arm. She loves to compete and we know she’ll have a great impact on our team.”
Tauai played under Coach Larkin for two seasons and led her team to an undefeated season and Sun Coast Conference title in 2012, while returning in 2013 for a second consecutive conference title. She was a two-year first team all-conference selection and was the Sun Coast Conference Player of the Year in 2013. Tauai was also on the all-state team in 2012 and 2013 and was on the all-state tournament team in 2012 and 2013. In addition, Tauai was a part of the NJCAA All-Tournament team in 2012 and 2013.
The Aggies start practice during the first week of August and the 2014 volleyball schedule is set to be released by the end of May.
