New Mexico State swimmer Terrin Seaver has been awarded the 2014 All-American Athlete Award by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), in conjunction with Muscle Milk, for her athletic accomplishments and dedication to strength and conditioning during the 2013-14 season.

Seaver was nominated by Tony McClure, the Aggie swimming and diving team’s strength and conditioning coach, for her determination to improve in athletics while maintaining academic prominence.

“Terrin is a WAC champion and a four-year Crimson Scholar,” McClure said. “She is a good role model for all student-athletes at NM State.”

During this season’s Western Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, the Aggie senior and team captain broke three school records en route to becoming the WAC champion in the 100 back and the runner-up in both the 100 fly and 200 back. Seaver also helped the relay teams to two third-place finishes and two fourth-place finishes.

In all, Seaver, a native of Lake Geneva, Wis., had a total of five individual wins during the 2013-14 season and also notched a WAC Swimmer of the Week nod.

In the classroom, the biology major holds a cumulative 3.58 GPA and has been named to the Academic All-WAC team all four of her years at NM State. She is also a Scholar All-American Honorable Mention recipient and a three-year El Paso Electric Crimson and White member.

“We are proud to have Terrin Seaver join the NSCA in its mission to safely improve athletic performance,” said coach Boyd Epley, NSCA founder. “Supporting our student-athletes like Terrin guarantees a stronger future for the NSCA.”

The NSCA is an international nonprofit educational association founded in 1978, serving nearly 30,000 members in 52 countries. The NSCA develops and presents information regarding strength training and conditioning practices, injury prevention and research findings, drawing upon its vast network of members to create a bridge between scientist in the laboratory to the practitioners in the field.
