New Mexico State’s Jannae Cambra and Seattle U’s Mary Hill have been named Western Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for the week of Oct. 7-13.

Cambra, a junior forward from Morgan Hill, Calif. (Sobrato HS), scored each of the Aggies’ three goals over the weekend with five shots on goal. She helped NM State comeback from a 2-0 deficit at Utah Valley, scoring two goals to secure a 2-2 tie. She also scored NM State’s lone goal in a 2-1 double-overtime loss at Bakersfield earlier in the week. Over her two matches, Cambra recorded three goals, five shots on goal and six points.

Hill, a senior midfielder from Mercer Island, Wash. (Mercer Island HS), anchored the Seattle U backline that has now recorded six straight shutouts. She helped the SU backline limit Grand Canyon to only one shot on goal in a 5-0 shutout road victory. The SU defense held GCU to only one shot in the first half and six in the second. Hill and the Seattle U defense did not allow Grand Canyon a corner kick in the match. Hill also recorded an assist in the match, her third of the season.

Other offensive nominees included: Grand Canyon sophomore forward Cassie Beckwith … Kansas City senior forward Taylor Bare … Seattle U junior forward Stephanie Verdoia … Utah Valley sophomore forward Kali Stubbs.

Other defensive nominees included: Grand Canyon senior goalkeeper Cat Lena … Kansas City sophomore goalkeeper Nina Tzianos.
