NMSU cross country completes Santa Clara invite

The New Mexico State cross country team wrapped up competition in the Santa Clara Invitational in Sunnyvale, Calif. on Saturday. The women’s team finished 15th and the men’s team finished 16th.

For the women, the Aggies were led by junior Diana Hawk, who finished 39th overall in a field of 204 runners. Hawk finished with a time of 21:24.7, in the 6K run.

Hawk was followed by junior Megan McNally, who finished with a time of 21:45.6, and senior Christiana Barela who earned a time of 22:21.6.

The women’s team finished 15th with 373 points in a field of 19 teams.

The men’s team was led by junior Hab Rubio, who finished 52nd in a field of 193 runners. Rubio finished with a time of 24:47.7, in the men’s 8K run.

Rubio was followed by junior Erik Perez, who finished with a time of 25:30.7.

The men’s team finished 16th with 398 points in a field of 18 schools.

NM State will have a week off before traveling to Seattle, Wash., to compete in the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Nov. 2.
