The New Mexico State baseball team plays a mid-week road game against Arizona State, who is ranked No. 26 nationally in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll, in Packard Stadium, Tuesday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. (MT). NM State returns home jumping back into Western Athletic Conference action as it takes on Utah Valley, Friday through Sunday, May 2-4. Friday and Saturday’s games start at 6:05 p.m. (MT) and Sunday’s series finale is set for a 1:05 p.m. first pitch. All games this week are scheduled to air over the radio waves on KSNM AM 570 with Jeff Matthews giving the play-by-play action. Looking Back
NM State took on Grand Canyon in a three game series on April 25-27 in Phoenix, Ariz. The Aggies now move to 16-21 overall and 7-6 in the Western Athletic Conference. The Aggies went 1-2 on the weekend winning the second game against the Lopes on April 26 with a 2-1 final score. The first day of the series, the Aggies lost their first competition 6-3 crediting Christopher Bradley with the loss (3-5). NM State ended their weekend after a 9-4 loss to Grand Canyon giving Zach Freeman the loss after he came in for relief working 4.1 innings.

Aggies vs. Arizona State
NM State first began their game series with Arizona in 1962 during the first year NM State participated in a baseball season. The two game series in 1962 ended with the Aggies losing both games the first losing 3-0 and the second 12-3 against the Sun Devils. Since then, the two teams have met a total of 35 times with the Aggies having an overall 2-33 record. The biggest losing margin for the Aggies came in 2003 when the Aggies lost in a no-run game to the Sun Devils with a final score of 15-0. The last time the Aggies played the Sun Devils was in 2005 where they played twice during that season. During first game against the Sun Devils that season Arizona State was ranked No. 9 when they beat NM State in a 12-0 sweep. The second game of the season against the then ranked No. 12 Sun Devils ended with a close one run loss of 11-10 during the 2005 season.

The Aggies renew their series history after an 11-year play gap traveling to Arizona for one game on Tuesday, April 29 to face off against the Sun Devils as they are ranked No. 26 based on the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll. The Sun Devils are led by Nathaniel Causey with a .344 batting average, 16 RBI on the season and a .469 slugging percentage. On the mound, Brett Lilek pitches a 1.75 ERA and is credited with one save and 57 strikeouts. Lilek holds his opponents to a .177 batting average.
