Aggie Men's Golfers named All-America Scholars
Norman, OK — Three New Mexico State University men’s golfers were named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) recently.
Included on the list were Derek Baade, Willy Hogan and Brett Walker. Baade finished his playing career with the Aggies this past spring while Hogan and Walker will return to the NM State lineup in the fall.
Hogan competed in 10 tournaments for the Aggies in 2012-13. On the year, Hogan recorded a 75.9 strokes per round average, tallying three rounds of even or under par. He also recorded one top-20 finish on the season.
Walker was a cornerstone for the Aggies in 2012-13, competing in 10 tournaments. He finished with a strokes per round average of 74.2 on the season, recording nine rounds of even or under par golf.
There were a total of 152 players in Division I, 57 in Division II and 18 in NAIA who earned the honor. To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, and individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive round or compete in the NCAA Championships, have stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
