Aggie Men's Basketball Holding Crimson and White Scrimmage, Saturday

Aggie Men's Basketball Holding Crimson and White Scrimmage, Saturday
KTSM
New Mexico State
Wednesday, October 16, 2013 - 4:49pm

New Mexico State men’s basketball fans have their first chance at catching the defending Western Athletic Conference champion and 2012 NCAA Tournament participant in action during the Crimson and White scrimmage, Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1:00 p.m. (MT) in the Pan American Center.

The Aggies will split into two teams and face each other in front of the Aggie faithful. It is a free event and open to the public. This is the community's first chance to see the team before hosting Western New Mexico, Oct. 29, in the only exhibition game of the preseason.

NM State won the 2013 WAC Tournament Championship and is the first team to win back-to-back titles since 2001 and 2002. Aggie fans will have a chance to see sophomore center Sim Bhullar and junior guard Daniel Mullings in action on Saturday. Bhullar broke the school record for blocked shots in a single-season with 85 last year and was a 2013 Preseason All-WAC selection by both the WAC coaches and the media. Mullings was recently named the WAC Preseason Player of the Year by both the WAC coaches and media.

The Aggies, who were picked to win the WAC in the preseason polls, return eight players from the 2012-13 squad that finished with a 24-11 overall record and made the 20th NCAA Tournament appearance in school history.

The scrimmage is just one of many events during “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” Week that is capped off with the football game against Rice at 6 p.m. in Aggie Memorial Stadium.
