UPDATED: Tuesday, July 10, 2012 - 9:38pm

The 83rd installment of the MLB All Star game, celebrating the midway point of the baseball season, took place at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri tonight. Plenty of storylines surround this year's midsummer classic, from the youth of Bryce Harper and Mike Trout, to the remarkable season of a thirty seven year-old knuckleballer named R.A. Dickey, and of course, the final all star appearance of Lawrence "Chipper" Jones. WIth the World Series home field advantage on the line, the American League hosts the National League in K.C.

The National League pulls off the eighth shutout in all star history, winning 8-0. The NL jumped on Justin Verlander early, scoring 5 runs off the Detroit Tigers and the AL starting pitcher. Melky Cabrera was named MVP after going 2-3, scoring two runs with 2 RBI. Also for the NL, Pablo Sandoval was 1-2 with a three rbi triple.
