National Exposure Gives Miners "Tough" Reputation

Sports

POSTED: Wednesday, September 26, 2012 - 7:02pm

UPDATED: Wednesday, September 26, 2012 - 7:03pm

UTEP Football is reaping the benefits of their tough out of conference schedule despite their 1-3 record. Three of the Miners first four games were nationally televised against teams from the Big 12, SEC, and Big 10 with UTEP playing much closer than expected. That has people talking about the Miners.

"We've had a lot of national exposure, people say, 'man, you guys hit. Man, you're aggressive. Man, you're tough.' Those are three adjectives I'd like my team to be known for, and they are," said Head Coach Mike Price.

The Miners now open up conference play with their longest road trip of the year, a date in Greenville, NC against East Carolina University.

"We have to go into this game more focused than we were for the other games and keep the same intensity in order for us to come out with victories and do pretty good," said senior DT Germard Reed.

It will be a chance for UTEP to snap their 0-17-1 record playing in the Eastern Time Zone. Kickoff set for 5pm MT.
