More High School Athletes Sign to College

Riverside's Marisol Macias signed to play Division One Volleyball at Southern University in Baton Rouge, while classmate Kirby Hernandez signed to play football and baseball at Sul Ross State in Alpine, Texas.  Clint High School's Sarah Rayas signed to run Cross Country at Dallas Baptist University.  In Santa Teresa, the Desert Warriors held a State Championship celebrating Carlos Hernandez, who won the State Championship with a state record of 7-feet in the High Jump, while Irwin Vera signed to track and Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico, a Division 2 University.

Vera said about the signing, "Running has opened a lot of doors for me and I'm really happy I stayed in the sport. I'm really happy that I have to continue. That's all I wanted."  Macias added about her signing, "My whole goal was to go to school. Education was the first thing. But it's a priveledge to play at the next level and it's really exciting."
