UPDATED: Wednesday, May 26, 2010 - 6:37pm

Wednesday, May 26:  Several more students signed their letter of intent to play sports in college.  Americas High School pitcher Omar Garcia will follow his brother and play baseball at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.  Garcia was named to the all-city team and helped Americas win the 2010 district 1-5A title.  Chapin High School Girls Basketball player Anika Hostos signed to play basketball at the University of the Southwest.  The 5-3 senior guard averaged 6.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.9 assits per game for the Huskies.  At Coronado, three thunderbird cheerleaders signed to cheer in Division 1.  Amanda Mitchell (Vanderbilt), Kelly Moore (TCU) and Melissa Muñoz (UTEP) all signed to cheer.  Amanda Mitchell said, "It's been one of my dreams I guess to cheer in college, so it's really cool that it is happening to me." Kelly Moore added, "I cannot wait, it's going to be a great opportunity for me to be an ambassador for TCU, and to cheer for their awesome football team." Melissa Muñoz said, "I have been attending UTEP camps ever since I was a little kid, so to actually cheer for them now, it's super exciting and I can't wait."
