Miners to recoup, refocus during bye week
The Miners have battle through injuries since their 28-17 loss at SMU September 10th and now they will get the week off to recover after being physically and mentally beaten during a 1-3 stretch including a heartbreaking 49-42 loss to Houston on Thursday at the Sun Bowl. Despite the struggles, the team has progress as the season continues.
"We stayed together as a team, so that is definitely a positive. We have to learn from it, so that's another positive. We know we were capable of doing it. We just didn't execute," said Senior Joe Banyard who tallied a career high 256 total yards and 1 touchdown against the Cougars.
Head Coach Mike Prices says his team is on the verge of breaking out.
"We sure showed a lot of character. I think we will show a lot of character during the bye week by doing the right thing. I don't expect any trouble from this team for the rest of the year. I think they are going to be solid, together and we are going to win a lot more games."
Following their bye week, UTEP will head to the Super Dome to face Tulane on October 15th.
