EL PASO, TEXAS -- Julyan Stone dished out five assists to shatter the UTEP career record as the Miners blew past Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 77-54, on Sunday night at the Don Haskins Center.

The senior from Goleta, Calif. came into the game needing three assists to break Tim Hardaway's school standard. Hardaway, an NBA All-Star, registered 563 dimes over four seasons in a Miner uniform (1985-89). Stone picked up assist #564 off a driving layup by Jeremy Williams with 7:45 remaining in the first half.

His first assist of the night came on a layup by John Bohannon with 17:18 remaining in the opening stanza. Later Stone found another freshman, Michael Perez, for a layup with 14:58 on the clock to tie the record.

UTEP (6-2) won for the sixth time in seven games, using a 21-0 run to build a 25-4 lead and turn back the Golden Lions (0-8), who are playing their first 12 games on the road.

Bohannon posted his first career double-double, finishing with 12 points and 12 rebounds. He was one of three Miners in double figures as Jeremy Williams netted 15 points and Christian Polk 14.

UTEP shot 60.7 percent in the first half in building a 48-21 lead. The Miners cooled off only slightly over the final 20 minutes, finishing at 56 percent on the night.

Terrell Kennedy led UAPB with 13 points, and Daniel Broughton had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Golden Lions shot 27.3 percent in the first half and 32.8 percent for the game. They were 1-for-13 from three-point range.

The Miners had their largest lead of the night at 68-30 when Gabe McCulley buried a three pointer with 12:06 to play.

UTEP will play two more home games this week, hosting Louisiana Monroe on Wednesday (7:05 p.m.) and Texas Tech on Saturday (8 p.m.).
