Distance runners Anthony Rotich and Risper Kimaiyo are named Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week.

Rotich ran a tough race taking on the worlds top distance runners at the Stanford Invitational. The All-American clocked in the third-fastest time in the nation in the 5,000m with a personal best of 13:34.84. The sophomore was the thirdcollegiate runner to cross the finish line at the meet. Rotich’s time also secured him the No. 4 spot in the school recordbook.

Kimaiyo ran the 10,000m for the first time in her collegiate career at the Stanford Invitational. The All-American returned to the track after suffering an injury last season. The senior sprinted out in the Orange and Blue posting the seventh-fastest time in the nation with a time of 33:24.21. Additionally, the Kenyan’s time ranks third all time at UTEP.

A group of Miners will be traveling to Lubbock, Texas on Saturday to compete at the Texas Tech Open.
