Miners reach crucial stretch

Sports
Wednesday, January 23, 2013 - 7:35pm

UTEP basketball has been taking care of business this last month. Especially when it counted most, in conference play. Since their triple-overtime win over Oregon December 19th, the Miners are 7-2 with their two losses at a combined 7 points. They are also 3-1 in C-USA which is good for third. Up next a stretch of games that Tim Floyd calls crucial starting at East Carolina Saturday.

"We've got back to back road games followed by three here in El Paso. If we can go on this road and play well and then come back home and play well we are putting ourselves in a position to contend. This trip is certainly a big trip," said Floyd.

Sophomore guard McKenzie Moore added, "We have some momentum but we all know as a whole we can play a lot better. So we are just taking it one game at a time."

The Miners are at ECU Saturday followed by UAB on Wednesday.
