Local Pro Golfers To Help First Tee of El Paso
Four local professional golfers will join The First Tee of Greater El Paso’s Executive Director Kristi Albers in a media conference to announce The First Tee of Greater El Paso’s Skins Game and Skills Clinic. Rick Todd (UTEP Golf Coach & Former PGA Tour member/Asian Tour), Chris Baryla (PGA Tour Member), JP Hayes (PGA Tour Member) and Steve Haskins (Nationwide Tour/Champions Tour Member) are scheduled to attend the media conference on Wednesday, October 6 at 2:00 pm at the First Tee Clubhouse at Ascarate Golf Course, 6900 Delta Drive. Members of the media are invited to attend, meet the golfers and learn about the free event. Light refreshments will be served.
The Skins Game and Skills Clinic will take place on Friday, October 29 at the Santa Teresa Country Club and is free to the public. Kristi, Rick, JP and Steve will be joined by PGA Tour Members Rich Beem and Paul Stankowski for the event, which begins with the Skills Clinic at 3:00 pm and is followed by the Skins Game at 3:30 pm. Event sponsors are invited to a private Meet & Greet with the Pros at 2:00 pm, before the clinic and competition.
“We were so excited to get this great field of golfers together in support of The First Tee of Greater El Paso,” said Kristi Albers, who launched the El Paso chapter of the national First Tee in 2008. “The event came together quickly after we had their commitment for the date and we are looking forward to a fun afternoon out at Santa Teresa.”
The event will raise awareness for The First Tee of Greater El Paso, which offers programming at Ascarate Golf Course and Underwood Golf Course (part of its Military Affiliate Program) and is expanding to El Paso’s Butterfield Trail Golf Course and Santa Teresa Country Club in New Mexico. First Tee programs are offered to children ages 5 to 18 and include life skills and the 9 Core Values (courtesy, judgment, honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility and perseverance) in each golf lesson.
