A local student, whose story played out on the national stage, can now credit his good deed to getting into his dream college.

You remember the story of Mitchell Marcus and Jonathan Montanez.

The two made headlines across the country for their act of sportsmanship.

Marcus is a special needs student at Coronado High School and made a shot in the basketball team's final game of the year after opposing player Montanez of Franklin High School threw him the ball.

The chancellor for Texas Tech heard the story and found out Montanez applied to college there.

Not only has he been accepted into raider nation, but he's also received a $1000 scholarship to attend.
