Kimaiyo and Rotich Post National Times at Husky Classic
Risper Kimaiyo and Anthony Rotich post national times at the 2012 Husky Classic on Friday.
“First let me congratulate both Risper and Anthony for their performances,” said associate head coach Paul Ereng. “Risper did very well and her performance today makes her a contender for the national meet.”
Kimaiyo recorded the third fastest time in the nation in the women’s 5,000m. The All-American finished 10th overall clocking in a time of 16:04.88. The senior is ranked first in Conference USA in the women’s 5,000m.
“Rotich did a wonderful job for a freshman,” said Ereng. “He still has a lot to learn but has a great future ahead.”
Rotich competed in the men’s 5,000m run for the first time as a Miner. The freshman crossed the finish line with a time of 14:02.16 taking 13th in the event. The Kenyan native posted the eighth fastest time in the nation and the No. 1 spot in C-USA.
The Miners will be competing at the Texas A&M Invitational, tomorrow starting at 12 p.m. with the men’s long jump.
