Darien Johnson has started for the Aggie defense since his first year wth New Mexico State. Now a Junior, he is ready for his ready to lead his squad. The past two seasons johnson has had good examples to follow in Davon House, now with the Green Bay Packers, and Jonte Green, who graduated last season after earning All-Conference recognition.

"I learned a lot from those guys. They had big senior years and I'm trying to take what I learned from them and step up, be the best I can for the group. Be the best leader I can," said Johnson.

"He got baptized pretty quick so it's good to see him as a Junior, he understands what is expected of him. He knows the level. So I'm excited to see him emerge as an up and comer," said Head Coach DeWayne Walker.
