Irvin's Miguel Edwards Signs to Run Track at UTEP

Sports

POSTED: Thursday, February 25, 2010 - 5:34pm

UPDATED: Thursday, February 25, 2010 - 7:33pm

Thursday, February 25:  Today at Irvin High School, the Utep Miners got a very big signee.  Miguel Edwards excels at the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter for the Irvin Rockets, and today signed his letter of intent to attend UTEP over the University of New Mexico.  Edwards wanted to stay close to home, but that is not the only reason for his decision.  Miguel Edwards "That's one of the reasons, and the other reason is to have a great track team and I want to be a part of that team. It was very hard, I had to choose between me and my family and stay close to them, and in the end, I had to stay close to my family and friends."  UTEP Head Track and Field coach Bob Kitchens said he will retire after the season, so Edwards was looking forward to competing for Coach Kitchens in his final season.
