Hyundai Sun Bowl Speculation

Hyundai Sun Bowl Speculation

Sunday, December 1, 2013 - 11:46pm

When the calendar flips to December, the Hyundai Sun Bowl speculation begins.

The best guess for this year's December 31st game?  It appears Virginia Tech vs UCLA is the most likely matchup...but that could change.

Sun Bowl Executive Director Bernie Olivas says, "We will be staffing both the Championship games in the ACC and PAC 12 on Saturday and be ready to announce our match up next Sunday (December 8th.)

The games matches the fourth place teams from the ACC and Pac 12 but matchups could change depending on the results of conference Championship games on Saturday.  Virginia Tech finished second in the Coastal Division of the ACC with a 5-3 (8-4) record.  UCLA  was second in the PAC-12's South Division finishing 6-3 (9-3.)

There are other possibilities.  Duke, which plays in the ACC Championship game against Florida St., could tumble down to the Sun Bowl and Miami could also be in play.

The Sun Bowl takes place at 12:00 December 31st with CBS broadcasting the game.
