Hueco Rock Rodeo returns to El Paso
El Paso, TX — The Hueco Rock Rodeo is one of the longest running outdoor climbing competitions. The iconic event began in 1989 and took a short pause because of restrictions--but the community has always come together to put the Hueco Rock Rodeo, HRR, on and we are proud to be celebrating the 21st year in 2014! The event brings beginners and pros together in a weekend festival filled with fun and challenging climbing in the world-class bouldering destination Hueco Tanks. Daniel Woods who won in 2012 is returning to the Rodeo scene after missing last year’s comp. Paul Robinson, who won last year, is also coming back as well as Jimmy Webb, the 2013 Rodeo second place winner Sam Davis and Sean McColl who took 3rd in the 2012 HRR! Talent and strength are coming to the 21st Hueco Rock Rodeo with some of the best climbers in the world--all here the same year! Representing the female crushers is Angie Payne, who won of the 2013 HRR and came in second in the 2012 HRR, as well as Nina Williams, Kasia Pietras and Mina Leslie-Wujastyk from the UK. This will be Kasia’s and Mina’s first Rodeo!
The long weekend will start on Friday with slide shows by local Sam Davis and Mina Leslie-Wujastyk. That same night Dave Graham will be premiering the Island 2! The festivities Saturday will include our 3rd Annual Art Show our and our 3rd Annual Dyno Comp, vendor village, DJ and bonfire! Included with registration is camping all three nights at the AAC’s Hueco Rock Ranch, dinner three nights, breakfast two mornings, Fat Tire beer and free yoga classes will be offered throughout the weekend. The El Paso Food Truck Circus will be feeding the competitors, volunteers and partygoers Friday and Saturday nights!

The Hueco Rock Rodeo is a tradition that has been handed down from climbers who loved Hueco from the beginning to us today and we are happy to be growing this event and giving back to Hueco Tanks. The Hueco Rock Rodeo proudly supports and donates proceeds to Hueco Tanks State Historic Site and Park, the Climbers of Hueco Tanks Coalition and the El Paso Youth Outreach Program. These organizations strive to preserve The Park, our privilege to climb at the Historic Site and helps give back to the local community.
