House Benefitting from Walkers NFL Past

Davon House has already graduated and has spent every day since the Aggies finished the season 2-10 in the gym preparing for the NFL Draft. By many projections, House could be picked anywhere as high as the second round.

That make come as a surprise considering House struggled just as much as his team did in 2010. Hampered by an injury, Davon had a less than spectacular senior campaign. So how do you explain being one of the top defensive prospects in the country just a short time later? Look no further than New Mexico State Head Coach DeWayne Walker.

Walker spent 7 years in the NFL as a defensive backs coach so he knows what is expected of players in the next level. He has set aside one-on-one time to mentor House to better improve his draft stock. But for Walker, it is almost nostalgic.

"It's been kind of fun reliving my NFL days to try to help him become an NFL Player," said Walker.

House credits all of his recent achievements to his former coach.

"It's a blessing. I feel like if it wasn't for Coach Walker, I wouldn't be in the position I am in now," said House.

Until the NFL Draft on April 28th, House will be acting as a coach for the Aggies during Spring Football. When asked where he will be when his name is called, he replied, at home with his family.
