Highlanders Fall, El Paso High Advances to 4A State Final Four

Saturday, April 3:  El Paso High defeats Mansfield Legacy 1-0 in the Regional Finals at Wichita Falls today. The winning goal was scored in the 69th minute by Marco Cordova of El Paso High. The Tigers now advance to the Class 4A State Soccer Final 4 at Birkelbach Field in Georgetown, Texas. The semifinal games are set for Friday, April 9, at either 3 pm MDT or 5 pm MDT. If El Paso High wins Friday, the Tigers then will advance to the state soccer championship game on Saturday, April 10 at 5 pm MDT. Pairings will be announced by the UIL Sunday.
 

In the 5A Regional Final, Regulation and Overtime have come to an end, tied at 1.  Dallas Jesuit wins it in a shootout, 4-2, advancing to the 5A Final Four Tournament.  Dallas Jesuit is the #1 ranked team in the nation, and has defeated Bel Air in the playoffs for the third consecutive year.  Martin Fuentes scored for Bel Air in the 25th minute, but Dallas Jesuit's Matthew Fredericks scored in the 50th minute to tie it up.
