Get this stat line from Jesus Ruiz of Ysleta High School vs Parkland Friday night:  a 74-yard touchdown reception, a 23-yard touchdown reception, a 34-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown, a two-point conversion, a blocked punt and 14 tackles on defense.  Not too shabby!!

For his efforts, Jesus was named our Academy Sports High School Football Player of the week.  He credits his team and family atmosphere for helping in the win, a 28-21 victory over Parkland.

"They're amazing, we're family, we're all together. We all came through. It's hard but coach keeps pushing me every week, so I keep getting better and better, it's exciting."  Head Coach Tod Clark added, "It take a lot of conditioning, he has a lot of heart, and played hard the entire game. All of his touchdowns were very big plays."

Yselta has a bye this week, and will finish the regular season at Horizon on Friday, Nov. 4.
