Rams Face Toughest Test in Franklin

High School Football
Tuesday, October 23, 2012 - 6:38pm

The Montwood Rams are 5-2 this season, 3-1 in District 1-5A, but will face their toughest test of the district season 7pm Friday night when they travel to Coronado High School to face Franklin.  The Cougars are 7-0, and seem to be rolling right along.

It's been a long time since Montwood has lost two games in the regular season, but that's what the Rams are facing after loss to Smithson Valley and Americas, but bounced back with a 42-7 victory over Socorro.

"That's going to happen, we can't win them all. We played well and we played hard, and the kids know that when we shoot for high goals, it's a long way to fall, so we re-grouped, took a week and licked our wounds a little bit because we felt bad about it, naturally, but had a good game against Socorro, and now we play one of the best teams in my opinion in West Texas in Franklin," said Head Coach Chuck Veliz.

Senior Receiver Victor Chavez added, "Every game is circled on our calendar, it's a big game this week. It's pretty much one versus two but we're ready."

7:00pm Friday, Franklin hosts Montwood at Thunderbird Stadium.
