Preseason Fine 9 Football Teams: #4 Chapin

High School Football
Sunday, August 26, 2012 - 11:19pm

Last season Chapin went 9-3 and a perfect 7-0 in District en route to the outright title, a Bi-District Championship and a trip to the Area round. 16 starters return from that team this season and expectations are high for the Huskies.

"On paper we look good. But you don't play on paper. You've got to get on the field. I'm real pleased with the summer we had. We had kids over the summer work hard. We couldn't have asked for any more than what they gave us," said Head Coach Rene Hernandez.

After a successful first year as a starter, Seth Gonzales returns for his Junior season and has high hopes for his team.

"We're excited, we're confident, we are looking forward to doing some special things here but we've got to take it one game at a time and see where that takes us," said Gonzales.

The Huskies will start the 2012 season Friday against the #1 ranked team in New Mexico, the Las Cruces Bulldawgs at the Field of Dreams in the City of the Crosses.
