Knights Playing Well Before Big Showdown

High School Football

POSTED: Wednesday, October 10, 2012 - 6:06pm

UPDATED: Wednesday, October 10, 2012 - 6:33pm

The Hanks Knights are one of the hottest teams in the city of El Paso. Hanks is 4-1 and 3-0 in District 2-4A, and seems to be flourishing after their move from 5A to 4A. This Friday, at 7pm, Hanks will host Del Valle, winner will likely have the inside track to the District 2-4A title.

Hanks has averaged 30.4 PPG this season, while averaging just 6.5 PPG on defense their last two games. The team has come together through tough summer workouts.

Senior RB Dominique Carter spoke about the summer conditioning. "A lot of busting our butts during summer, everybody working hard on and off the field, and especially in the classroom, keeping on our grades... That's what has brought us together." Division 1 recruit, Receiver and Safety Patrick Pettis, added, "Everybody's playing great right now, our team is looking great, everybody is hard working. It's going to be hard to stop us, cause we're on a roll you know. It's a first time for a shot at the district title, and I think it's our year."

7pm Friday night, Hanks hosts Del Valle at Excalibur Stadium.
