Kevin Jones, a football offensive coordinator and track coach at Ysleta High School, has been hired as Hanks High School’s new head football coach, effective today.

Prior to teaching social studies and coaching at Ysleta High School, Jones taught and coached at Coronado High School from 2002 to 2013. Before moving to El Paso in 2002, Jones worked as an offensive line coach at West Texas A&M University, Doane College in Nebraska, and an assistant offensive line coach at South Dakota State University.

Jones holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in physical education and recreation, both from South Dakota State University. He is currently a member of the Texas High School Coaches Association, and serves as a board member of the El Paso Coaches Association.

Ysleta ISD, a two-time national Broad Prize finalist, serves about 43,000 students in pre-K through 12th grade in 63 campuses, including two K-8 international schools and one early college high school. YISD’s 2013 state ratings were among the best in El Paso, with every campus meeting the state’s academic standards. Ysleta also had the highest number of campuses earning special distinctions in Math, English Language Arts, and Student Improvement.
