Thursday night high school football treated us with a big 1-5A matchup between district leaders El Dorado and Franklin at the Student Activities Center and the Aztecs sent a message to the rest of the district with a 42-18 victory.

The win puts El Dorado in a tie for 1-5A for the time being with Americas, Coronado, and Montwood. The Aztecs improve to 6-2 while the Cougars fall to 7-2.

There was also a 1-4A matchup Thursday between the two surprise teams of the division as the Bowie Bears hosted 6-1 El Paso. Bowie gets a much needed win and avoid losing three games in a row shutting out the Tigers 14-0 and improving to 5-2 on the season.
