Cougars to lean on defense in 2014

KTSM
High School Football

POSTED: Monday, August 25, 2014 - 9:23pm

UPDATED: Tuesday, August 26, 2014 - 11:54am

The Franklin High School football team limped to a 6-5 record in 2013, mainly because the defense could not keep up with opposing teams offenses.  The Cougars averaged nearly 45 points a game in 2013, but gave up an average of nearly 38 PPG.

Franklin's players have dedicated themselves over the summer, and they say it has helped in growth.

"t's outstanding, we had a lot of good effort and a lot of teamwork going on right now, definitely trying to pick up the intensity. Last week wasn't the best week we have ever had, so we are definitely picking it up this week in practice," said Senior WR/S Gustavo 'Goose' Dorsett.  Senior QB Baylor Romney added, "I really think the defense. I think we have a pretty good offense, and it should be a really fun game to watch."

Baylor was referring to their season opener, Friday at Canutillo's Lowenberg Stadium.
