The Anthony High School Wildcat Football team will play in the newly-renovated Tommy Sanchez Memorial Football Stadium for the first time tonight as they take on the Mesilla Valley Christian School Sonblazers.

The game starts at 7 p.m. at the stadium, 825 Wildcat Dr., in Anthony, Texas. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony before the game.

The renovations at the stadium include a new field, an expanded seating area for 1,200 people, and new restroom facilities that are compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act. The total cost of the renovations is $1.2 million, which were paid out of the Anthony Independent School District’s general fund.

“We have a strong tradition of athletics and pride in our community, and now we have the stadium to match,” said Anthony High School Principal Oscar Troncoso. “We are proud to be able to provide our parents and community members — but moreover, our students — with the type of facility they deserve.”
