John Harbaugh and Jim Harbaugh have faced each other once... That was in 2011, when John's Baltimore Ravens defeated San Francisco, 16-6. This time around, there will be much more at stake. John's Baltimore Ravens will face Jim's San Francisco 49'ers in the Super Bowl.
It will be the first time brothers have coach against each other for the NFL'S biggest prize.
The AFC North champion Ravens are heading to the big easy, seeking their second NFL championship, while San Francisco has won five.
Jim Harbaugh said of facing his brother, "It's a blessing and a curse. Blessing because it's my brother's team. And also personally I played for the Ravens. Great respect for the organization. The curse part would be that the talk of two brothers playing in the Super Bowl and what that takes away from the players that are in the game. And every moment that you're talking about myself or John, that's less time that the players are going to be talked about."
John Harbaugh added, "It wasn't about one guy, it wasn't about any group of guys, it wasn't about one side of the ball, it was about a football team playing really good football in one of the biggest moments that football has to offer. That's what I'm so proud of as a football coach. This team that we're going to play is a great football team. They're extremely well-coached I'd have to say, they look somewhat familiar in a lot of ways. I think Jim's just done a great job with the team, I'm proud of him. I'm proud of what he's accomplished as a coach."
