Grand Prize Giveaway Night Highlights UTEP Vs. NM State Wednesday

Sports

POSTED: Tuesday, December 4, 2012 - 2:37pm

UPDATED: Tuesday, December 4, 2012 - 7:37pm

The first of three scheduled grand-prize giveaway games will highlight the UTEP women's basketball team's contest against New Mexico State at the Don Haskins Center at 7:05 p.m. MST Wednesday. One lucky fan will win an iPad while several others will go home premium prizes such as an autographed jersey. Tickets are just $5 for adults and $3 for kids.

It will be the second meeting on the year between the I-10 rivals, and both the Miners (6-1) and the Aggies (5-2) have enjoyed a successful season to date. UTEP’s lone setback came at NM State (69-68, 11/28/12) but it bounced back to topple Texas State, 88-81, at home on Dec. 1. The Aggies are riding a four-game win streak, most recently having overcome a 14-point halftime deficit to down Southern Utah, 70-68, on the road Dec. 1.

“I’m very excited about Wednesday night’s rematch vs. NM State,” UTEP head coach Keitha Adams said. “It’s a big game and there are also some big prize giveaways. Come help our team and have a chance to win an iPad!”

In addition to trying to earn a split in this year’s Battle of I-10, the Miners will be vying to protect their perfect record at the Haskins Center. UTEP, which is in the midst of playing six of seven at home in the month of December, stands at 4-0 on the venue this year.

The effort has improved the Orange and Blue to 86-18 in El Paso since the start of the 2006-07 campaign, including 23-2 during the month of December.
