UPDATED: Monday, September 23, 2013 - 9:51pm

The GolfWeek Amateur Tour is a National Amateur Golf Tour where individuals of all skill sets can play in a competitive tournament environment on a level playing field. The tour is broken down to five flights that players are classified in based on the handicap system to make sure that ANY player who comes out and plays to their ability has an opportunity to enjoy competitive competition. Players who join the tour can then, based on their performance on their local tour, qualify for an opportunity to compete at the National Championships at the end of the season.

This is the first year that the GolfWeek Tour has played in the El Paso/Las Cruces area, and will send eight golfers to the National Championships October 18-20 in Hilton Head, South Carolina.  The players are: Chris Juarez, Ivan Stubbs, Chris Harley, Justin Sherwood, Jonathan Fuller, Jim Collins, Brandon Grays, and Gabe Garcia.

The local tour has just under 40 tour members and expects to nearly double that number looking forward to 2014. They have completed 10 events in our first season and expect that number to increase to 12, to include two Major Championships next season.
