Giddens Earns Post-Season Honors

New Mexico State senior outside hitter Kayleigh Giddens was recently named to the Stellar Spikes second team.

Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU) honors 103 student-athletes from across the country in two teams of 14 and 75 honorable mentions. uses NCAA statistical rankings and the impact the player had on helping her team succeed as well as conference awards. They are looking for student-athletes that exhibit excellence and balance.

Giddens is the second NM State player to be named to a Stellar Spikes Team as Amber Simpson was an honorable mention selection in 2008.

Giddens holds records at NM State for season kills (542), career kills-per-set (4.42 kills/set), and kills-per-set in a single season (4.84 kills). She was also the first Aggie to ever record 500 or more kills in a season.

 In her time at NM State Giddens has earned many awards and honors including: First Team All-WAC (2009-10), WAC All-Tournament Team (2009-10), Preseason All-WAC (2010), COBRA Magazine All-National Team (First Team, 2010), COBRA Magazine All-Southwest Region (First Team, 2010), Florida State Invitational All Tournament Team (2010), Arizona Invitational All-Tournament Team (2010), and five WAC Player of the Week awards throughout the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
