Former Franklin pitcher Fernando Rodriguez was part of history in the Houston Astros game against the Tampa Bay Rays, Friday night. The Houston Astros became the first team since 1900 to use three pitchers in a game with the same surname (Rodriguez).

Wandy Rodriguez started the game for the Astros, pitching six innings, giving up five runs before being pulled for Fernando Rodriguez who pitched two innings giving up one hit and recording two strikeouts in relief. The final Rodrigues to come in was Aneury Rodriguez, who pitched one inning to finish out the game. The Astros would go on to lose the game 5-1.

After the game Houston optioned Fernando Rodriguez to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Rodriguez appeared in 13 games for the Astros, since being called up on May 28th. Rodriguez bosted a 2.87 ERA with one win and 22 strikeouts.
