Franklin Grad Excels as Texas Tech Defeated Oklahoma, 41-38

UPDATED: Sunday, October 23, 2011 - 11:07pm

A 90-minute weather delay did not rain on the Red Raiders parade as former Franklin Cougar Alex Torres headlined a high-flying Texas Tech offense in a 41-38 upset of #3 Oklahoma in Norman.

Seth Doege threw for 441 yards and connected with Torres on three of his four touchdown passes, and Texas Tech snapped the Sooners' 39-game home winning streak with 41-38 victory Saturday night. The junior caught four passes for 94 yards leading Red Raiders receivers.

"We knew coming in what we were facing. Oklahoma... Playing in Norman... We knew what challenge we were up against, but we knew exactly what we needed to do, and our biggest focus was playing hard and letting everything out. I think we did that, it's huge, I mean I can't put into words how excited I am right now," said Torres.

His quarterback Doege had nothing but good things to say about his top target.

"He's one of my best friends, I trust him, he's going to catch anything, he works hard, he is a leader of this team, he's a special player and if I feel he's open, I am going to throw it to him because i know that he's going to win."

In seven games this season, Torres has 39 receptions for 475 yards and four touchdowns.
