The Franklin baseball team swept Weatherford to advance to the 5A Regional Quarterfinals for the first time since 2007.  Loaded with a corp group of seniors and juniors, the Cougars will face a very balanced Lubbock Coronado team at Midland's Christensen Stadium in Midland on Friday.  The Mustangs won 2 of 3 over Midland Lee to win the Area Championship, and sit 28-12 overall.  Franklin is 31-4-1, and very confident of where they are in the playoffs.

Head Coach Andy Powers said, "They are not happy with what they have done so far, there's a bigger goal in mind that they are striving for, and I think if anybody can do it, this group is very capable, as capable as any team in the State of Texas, that's for sure."  Senior first baseman Cameron Haskins added, "We're really excited, we haven't been this far in quite some time, so we're really excited for the possibility of going to the sweet 16."
