Foster, Hardaway, Rodriguez Held Karam Tournament Raise Money for Scholarships
Former UTEP Basketball players Greg Foster and Tim Hardaway, along with Boxer David Rodriguez, helped the Joseph B. Karam Memorial Golf Tournament and the El Paso Community Foundation raise money for college scholarships today at Painted Dunes Golf Course.
After raising $28,000 last year, organizers were hoping for $40,000 in just it's second year. All say it's for a good cause in helping kids, just like what their father, Joseph, used to do.
Joseph's son, T.J. Karam, said "We created this tournament so we could raise funds with the El Paso Community Foundation, and hopefully increase the amount we're able to give in scholarships." Greg Foster added, "El Paso has always been great to me, so it's great to give back and they have adopted me, this is my home, back when me and Tim were playing together, so it's always great to see everybody." Tim Hardaway couldn't talk heavily about his golf game. "Oh, my golf game is terrible, I am just here for the cause and to have fun."
