What a day for former Socorro High School and El Paso Community College third baseman Eudor Garcia... Let's go through the timeline of events: This morning, Garcia was named a First Team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The complete listing of the NJCAA All-American Team may be viewed at <http://www.njcaa.org/Teams/baseball/2014/2014%20DI%20Baseball%20All-Americans.pdf>.

After that, he was drafted by the New York Mets with the 115th pick in the fourth round. "Today I got the call, here with my family, they were all around me, it's pretty great, you know, exciting, happy... I'm blessed to say that I got the call on the day I have been waiting for, and not everyone gets this experience, and here I am, you know."

Eudor said he was courted by the Diamondbacks, Mets, Red Sox, Rays, and Royals the most. In fact, just last week, he had a workout for Arizona in Phoenix, and also had a workout in Oklahoma City.

After being drafted, Eudor then learned he was named NJCAA player of the year.

The sophomore third baseman is the first EPCC Tejano to be named All-American in the 19 years of the EPCC baseball program. Previously Garcia was named the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) Most Valuable Player for 2014. Eudor set many Tejanos records including total bases-165, home runs-14, batting average-.460 and slugging percentage-.873. His overall play also earned him WJCAC All-Conference and NJCAA All-Region 5. Eudor has received a scholarship to continue his collegiate career at Prairie View A&M, but will likely sign to join the Mets Saturday morning.
