Former UTEP women’s basketball standout Natasha Lacy has inked a training camp contract with the Tulsa Shock of the WNBA. The camp is slated to run from April 25- May 7, and Lacy will vie for a chance to be mentored by a name very familiar to Miner fans. Nolan Richardson, El Paso native and National Collegiate Hall of Fame member, was named the franchise’s coach and general manager on Oct. 20, 2009.

The Shock will challenge Seattle in a preseason contest on May 9 before officially christening their campaign, their first in Tulsa, by playing host to Minnesota on May 15.

Lacy concluded a stellar collegiate career at UTEP in March 2008, and has since gone on to play professionally in Europe. Most recently she played for Maccabi Ashdod in the top league in Israel.

She led the team to a second-place showing, as it fell in the championship contest by two points. Lacy poured in 18.5 points per game, 8.8 rebounds per contest and had 5.6 assists per game during the playoff run. She was also productive during the regular season, with 15 ppg, 7 rpg and 5.6 apg.

The native of El Paso compiled some gaudy numbers in a stellar collegiate career. In three years with TCU and one with the Miners, she finished with more than 1,300 points, 750 rebounds, 600 assists and 300 steals.
