UTEP begins its sixth C-USA season on Wednesday against Tulsa. The Miners were 11-3 in league play in 2006, 6-10 in 2007, 8-8 in 2008, 10-6 in 2009 and 15-1 in 2010 for a composite ledger of 50-28.

UTEP Head Coach Tim Floyd said, "I have been watching our team and who we are playing, I don't have a comparison, cause I haven't been through the league. I don't know how the coaches coach, or how the players play. But we're going to start learning."  Senior Guard Randy Culpepper added that he's excited to start the real season in Conference USA.  "Yeah, this is zero-zero, this is where it all starts, you want to win as many games as possible in conference, so hopefully you can get a good seed in the tournament and also in the NCAA Tournament."

The Miners’ home record in C-USA action stands at 32-7 (7-0 in 2006, 5-3 in 2007, 7-1 in 2008, 5-3 in 2009, 8-0 in 2010).

UTEP carries a 14-game regular season winning streak versus C-USA teams into the 2011 schedule. The Miners have won 10 straight home games against C-USA opponents and are 13-1 in their last 14 league games at the Haskins Center.
