Elliott Farris has little experience in running. In fact, he has so little, the 20-year old took last year off from school in El Paso, after spending High School homeschooled, to work on his craft... the art of running. It has helped Elliott earn a way to run for Texas A&M.
"Texas A&M, really, they got a great program in all olympic sports, especially Track and Field, there is a great tradition there, and I am really excited about it, and it will be great that there will be a couple other guys from El Paso on the team, " said Farris.
Joining him in College Station is former Austin High School runner Isaac Spencer and Eastwood runner Juan Blanco.
Elliott has only ran Cross Country and Track and Field for three years, but he has excelled given time to practice. Elliott finished with the bronze medal at the 2010 Junior Olympics in the 3,000 meters, then won the Gold medal the following year in the same event. Elliott won the Cross Country gold medal at the Junior Olympics in 2010.
Elliott delayed college to work on his running style, and the coaches at Texas A&M noticed, thanks to his AAU coach in El Paso, Franks Munene, who leads KFM International and helps guide the El Paso Youth Sports Association.
