Antonio Escalante prepares for what its a key fight in his career. Escalante has lost two of his last three fights by the fast track to Roberto Marroquin and Rocky Juarez.

The once rank number one of the world Antonio Escalante is back into the ring and his next step is to defeat Jose Pedraza whom is in a very important point in his career. The bout will be for the IBO title, Friday, August 15 at Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California, televised on ESPN2.

Both fighters have a lot to prove, but Escalante has more to lose. Escalante says, "I understand that Pedraza is a good fighter and has a good record, but I do not care what he is thinking or doing. I'm going to focus on doing my job well, have good training, and return to the ring without worries. The last two years have been difficult and I think that finally the hunger for triumph has returned.

My Promotions "Escalante Promotions" have helped me to see my mistakes and seeing the talent that exists in El Paso has giving me the appetite for victory, the one I was missing in the last fights.

This fight I want to dedicate to my family, my fans and my sponsors who have been with me since I started my career. This fight will be for my people. "

I have been a faithful follower of Antonio Escalante since his first fight. Now, I see his ad for his coming fight as " Mexico vs Puerto Rico ". Didn't he graduate from Coronado HS? Hasn't he lived in El Paso for most of his life? I wonder, " what has Mexico done for him ?" If he fights for Mexico then lets send him home because apparently the USA is NOT his home!!!!

Escalante was born in Cd. Juarez but did graduate from Bowie HS.
