UPDATED: Thursday, June 30, 2011 - 7:18pm

One of the top high school athletes in El Paso has signed a major division one scholarship. Montwood football and track standout Elijah Britton has signed to run track at Clemson University. Britton picked the Tigers over Michigan State.

Clemson football coach Dabo Sweeney has also expressed interest in having Britton join his team as a walk-on to play defense.

"I have to remember what I got the scholarship for and what I'm going up there for. So I can't really lose sight of track and field. But I also feel I can add football to the mix," said Britton.

Elijah joins his two sibling who signed division one scholarships. His sister Evonne Britton signed last year to run track at Penn State. While his older brother Edward Britton signed in 2005 with Texas Tech to play football.
