25TH Silver Anniversary “From a Silver Past to a Golden Future – We Honor Excellence”

Armando Almanza – Bel Air HS lefty pitcher All-City & All-District 1991; New Mexico JC at Hobbs 1st Team All-Conference 1992-93; drafted by St. Louis Cardinals 21st round 1993; pitched 7 seasons in MLB 1999-2005; first 5 years with Florida Marlins; pitched 67 games & ranked 2nd among NL Rookie Relievers 2000; member of the 2003 World Series Champion Florida Marlins.

Tom Carrillo – 33 years coaching; only head baseball coach ever at Montwood HS; 21 years coaching varsity with overall record 409-221-3; state playoff appearance run of 10 straight seasons (2003-12); Montwood finished 35-4 in 2012 season - winning district, bi-district, area, & regional quarterfinal championships; 2012 El Paso Times Baseball Coach of the Year.

Rocky Coppinger – 3 year All-City & All-District 1st Team righty pitcher and 1st base for Coronado HS
1991-93; led T-Birds to Texas State Final Four in Austin 1992; All-City & All-District MVP to Regional Finals 1993; Hill Jr. College was Conference MVP 1994; drafted Baltimore Orioles 1993 & signed 1994; pitched for MLB Orioles 1996-99, finished 3rd in Rookie of Year balloting 1996; starting pitcher in Game 4 ALCS against NY Yankees; traded to Milwaukee Brewers 1999-2001; Oakland A’s 2002.

Dana Eisenga – El Paso Community College coordinator of athletic programs including baseball 1996-present; El Paso Baseball research analyst – EP Sun Kings, Diablos, UTEP, EPCC, & individual El Paso professional players 1982-present; El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame board member & officer 2001-present; coordinator of EP Baseball Hall of Fame Programs – collector’s item of historical info 2001-present.

Henry Munoz – Umpire for 26 years at youth, high school, & collegiate levels until he retired in 2005; umpired Texas state playoff series involving El Paso schools (1980-2005) including regional quarterfinals; did UTEP 1980-83 and NMSU baseball games 1982-1990; umpire for 2 exhibition games Milwaukee Brewers vs. EP Diablos; American Legion State Tournaments in Las Cruces & Alamogordo, New Mexico.

The 25th annual Induction and Awards Banquet will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Vista Del Sol Conference Center, 11189 Rojas Drive. The festivities will begin at 6:00 pm.
